Lincoln County Inland Port Gets Official Name

The newest inland port in the state now has a name: “The Nebraska International Port of the Plains.” The port will be near Hershey and is expected to have a large economic impact for the region. The name was announced at the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners’ meeting on Monday.

The meeting also included naming board members for the Inland Port Authority. Lincoln County Commissioner Chris Bruns on KODY’s “Mugs in the Morning” Tuesday said they had around two dozen applicants for the positions.

Those chosen for three-year terms for the Board of Directors were Vince Dugan, Dwight Porter and Kirk Olson. Three others were chosen for two-year terms were Jim Hawks, Pat Keenan and Kimberly Steger. Those selected for one-year terms on the board were Mike Steele, LeAnn Ellis and Kevin Tighe.
