Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska bowling team rose up one spot in the latest 2024 NTCA February poll released on Thursday, hopping now No. 7 Louisiana Tech, to claim the ranking of sixth nationally.
So far this spring, the Big Red have competed in three tournaments beginning with a second-place finish at the Stormin’ Blue and White. The Huskers then placed fifth at the Northeast Classic, a tournament that saw a record 34 teams compete, and fourth at the Prairie View A&M Invite.
Senior Kayla Verstraete was named tournament MVP at the Prairie View A&M Invite with a 1,418 total pinfall, the first of MVP award of her career and the highest individual pinfall average in a single tournament for the Loves Park, Ill., native.
The Big Red received a total of 1,244 points. Jacksonville State continues its streak in first place with a total of 1,680 points. Youngstown State snuck in to claim the second-place rank with 1,446 points with the previous No. 2 seed Vanderbilt dropping down to No. 5. Arkansas State and North Carolina A&T rounded out the top five with ASU at 1,442 and NCAT at 1,412.
