The Mid-Plains Community College STEM Club will offer activities for all ages during the Lincoln County Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They will be set up in the Open Class and 4-H Barn at the Lincoln County Fairground.

The club is made up of students from North Platte and the surrounding areas. “We want to represent science that is relevant to our area and done in our community,” said Jared Daily the club’s faculty advisor.

There will be hands-on opportunities to learn about science, technology, engineering and math. Activities include a fossil dig, human torso model, x-rays and viewing table, giant agriculture and geography puzzles, a sand table, hydro electric generator, build your own marble maze, pendulum paintings, giant building toys, radar gun pitching and more.

Thanks to community partners, giveaways for every child including real fossils from the fossil dig and take-home science activities will be offered. “We want to keep the excitement going at home,” Daily said.

Community partners include Great Plains Health, Bull Barn Genetics, Steele’s Roofing and Construction, Wal Mart Distribution, Croell Concrete, Dr. Joshua Wray, Complete Family Medicine, NPPD, The Sports Shoppe, Susan Furrow, Stuart Shepherd, Margo Hirschfeld, Enzo Athletic Performance, Runza and the Lincoln County Historical Museum.
