The No. 16 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (2-2, 0-0 Big Ten) enjoyed six career highs at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad in West Valley City, Utah, on Friday night.
Csenge Bácskay grabbed two personal bests – 9.900 on floor and 9.825 on vault, while Martina Comin seized a career-high on floor with a 9.925 and Kinsey Davis earned a 9.975 on bars to tie her personal best. Isabel Sikon recorded a career-best on beam with a 9.800. Whitney Jencks also scored a career-high 9.800 on bars. NU also saw two event titles – Sophia McClelland on beam with a 9.900 and Davis on bars with her 9.975.
The Huskers placed third out of four teams with an overall score of 195.875. Emma Spence represented the team in the all-around and posted a 38.900. Arizona grabbed the team title with a 196.475.
Rotation OneNU started the night off on beam, tallying a team score of 48.500. McClelland led the Big Red with a 9.900 in the event to grab the title. Sikon posted a career-best 9.800, and she was matched by Ayzhia Hall. Spence closely followed them with a 9.775, and Lucy Stanhope (9.225) and Emma Simpton (8.650) rounded out the lineup.
Rotation TwoThe Huskers continued the night on the floor, where Comin earned a career-high 9.925 to lead the team. She was followed by Bácskay’s 9.900, which was also a career best. McClelland notched a solid 9.875, and Stanhope and Spence both recorded 9.825s. Halle Rourke rounded out the rotation for Nebraska with an 8.925. As a team, NU scored 49.350.
Rotation ThreeNext up, the Big Red competed on vault, scoring a 49.000 as a team. They were led by Comin with a 9.850, her season-high. Hall, Bácskay and Davis all recorded 9.825s, with Bácskay’s being a career high, her second of the night. Davis’ score was a season best. Stanhope (9.675) and Spence (9.500) finished the rotation.
Rotation FourThe Huskers concluded the meet on bars with a team score of 49.025. Davis led the team with a 9.975 to tie her career-best and grab the event title. Simpton recorded a season-best 9.850. Spence and Whitney Jencks both notched 9.800s, with Jencks’ being a career-high. Clara Colombo (9.600) and Genesis Gibson (9.500) rounded out the evening for the Big Red.
