The Nebraska track and field program opened the first week of the USTFCCCA rankings inside the top 25 for both the men and the women.
The Husker men came in at No. 14, while the women are ranked 24th. That marks the best week one indoor ranking for the women since 2013, when they came in at 23rd. NU has posted 11 marks inside the top-20 nationally, while adding 11 Nebraska all-time marks. On the men’s side, Henry Zimmerman ranks third in the country in the weight throw, with a school record 74-8 1/4 (22.76m). Kevin Shubert hit 63-2 (19.25m) in the shot put at the Graduate Classic, giving him the fifth-best mark in the NCAA. Micaylon Moore has the eighth-best triple jump distance, leaping 52-3 1/4 (15.93m) over this past weekend. For the women, Jenna Rogers cleared 6-2 3/4 (1.90m) at the first meet of the year, putting her at No. 3 in the country. Mine De Klerk ranks No. 5 in the shot put, throwing for 57-3 (17.45m).The indoor season continues on Feb. 2-3 for the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, hosted at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. Events start at 12 p.m. (CT) on Friday and 9:30 a.m. (CT) on Saturday.
