Nebraska Head Swimming and Diving Coach Pablo Morales announced the addition of Virginia Consiglio to the Huskers’ 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday. From Rome, Italy, Consiglio will join an already-signed five-member class in Lincoln next season.
She competed with the Italian Junior National Team at the 2021 and 2023 European Junior Championships, where she set a junior national record in the 50 butterfly.
At the 2023 European Junior Championships, Consiglio swam a 27.53 in the long-course 50 butterfly prelims, placing 13th. She went to place 15th in the semifinals with a 27.65. Consiglio swam a 29.36 in the long-course 50 backstroke finals at the 2023 Campionato Italiano Assoluto Open, for another 13th-place finish.
“Virginia is a talented swimmer who has competed at the highest level of competition in Italy and Europe,” Morales said. “She has a passion for her sport and works hard in the classroom. She will be an awesome fit with our team culture.”
