Board of State Canvassers to Certify Primary Election Results

nebraska

Members of the Nebraska Board of State Canvassers will convene on June 10, 2024, to canvass and certify the results of the May 14 statewide primary election. The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. in Hearing Room 1510 at the State Capitol in Lincoln.

The Board of State Canvassers includes Governor Jim Pillen, Secretary of State Bob Evnen, Attorney General Mike Hilgers, State Treasurer Tom Briese and Auditor of Public Accounts Mike Foley.

The Board of State Canvassers is required by law to certify the 2024 primary election results following the election. County election officials have spent the past few weeks canvassing results and preparing certification materials for the Board of State Canvassers. The canvass process allows county election officials to account for every ballot cast and ensure each valid vote is included in the official results.

No automatic recounts are anticipated for any statewide races. However, if the certification were to prompt an automatic recount in any statewide race, a recount will occur on June 12. In that event, a second meeting of the Nebraska Board of State Canvassers would be scheduled for Monday, June 17 at 8 a.m. in Legislative Hearing Room 1525 at the State Capitol in Lincoln.

A copy of the agenda is available online and in the Secretary of State’s Office during regular business hours.
