Four Huskers Named CGA All-Americans

On Tuesday, the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) announced that Taylor Christopulos, Yanni Chronopoulos, Chris Hiser and Chase Mondi were deemed regular-season All-Americans. 

Christopulos was named to the list for the fifth-consecutive year for his performances on the floor and high bar this season. The Layton, Utah native earned his sixth-floor title this season at Penn State in March. At the Michigan meet, he earned a massive career-high of 14.75. Christopulos is ranked sixth nationally, with an average of 13.73. The graduate student also won honors on the high bar, earning his two titles this season on the Rocky Mountain Open event and the California tri-meet. The three-time team captain holds a career-high of 14.10. Christopulos currently has the fourth spot in the rankings, with an average of 13.372.

Chronopoulos has his first CGA honor of his career on still rings. The fifth-year senior had his first still rings title against Ohio State with a career-high of 14.25. The Canadian had the ninth spot with a 13.74 average on the season.

Hiser also earned his second regular-season All-America honor on still rings. He earned the honor in 2023, earning three event titles on rings. Hiser had two event titles this season for his seventh title, the fourth most on the event in school history. The Massachusetts native has the fourth slot in the national ranking with an average of 13.85. He shares the still rings title with Chronopoulos from the Ohio State meet, recording his career high of 14.25.

Mondi, a Lawrence, Kan., native, has had a stellar year on the floor and vault to earn his inaugural regular-season honor. The sophomore has two titles in each event, with his most recent title on vault against Michigan, where he hit a career-high of 14.65.  The Husker is ranked third on the floor with a 13.70 average and fourth on the vault with a 14.75.

Big Red is back in action this Friday, April 4, at 6 p.m. (CT) for the team competition and event finals on April 5th at 6 p.m. for the Big Ten Championships, aiming for a conference title.
