
Brookings, S.D. – The Mid-Plains Community College men’s rodeo team continues to widen their lead in the Great Plains Region with a first-place finish at the Jackrabbit Stampede.
Kahiwa Augustiro posted a third-place finish in the all-around standings with a first-place finish in bareback and a seventh-place finish in steer wrestling. Jackson Lunn finished closely behind his teammate in the bareback event with a score of 141.
Cinch Painter and Brady Renner grabbed the gold buckle in the team roping category with a time of 15.1. Trace Scarlavai added a top podium finish in bull riding with a score of 146.5.
On the women’s side, Laynee Ohm claimed the top spot in goat tying with a time of 13.3. Teammate Maggie Underhill notched a second-place finish in barrel racing with a time of 27.91, while Laysha Cottrell took home the bronze buckle with a time of 6.2 in the breakaway event.
The MPCC Rodeo Team will continue their spring season at the Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede April 25-26.
