Odden Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Nebraska men’s gymnast Max Odden was named Big Ten Freshman of the week, announced by the Big Ten Conference Monday afternoon following his performance against Illinois on Sunday, March 10.

Odden competed on high bar during Nebraska’s conference matchup against Illinois, where he helped the Huskers reach their season-best team score and top Illinois, 416.550-406.050. The freshman earned a first-place finish on high bar (13.85), setting a new personal-best record and notched his first career title and taking home his first career accolades.

The Scottsdale, Ariz. native, was one of five Huskers to earn a title at the Illinois dual. Odden is currently ranked 21st in the NCAA on high bar, while No. 3 Nebraska ranks third in the nation on the event overall.

Ohio State’s Kameron Nelson earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week and Ohio State’s Tyler Rockwood earned Big Ten Specialist of the Week.

Nebraska is set to compete against Ohio State for a Big Ten matchup on Tuesday, March 26 at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.
