Lincoln, Neb. – Republican Congressman Mike Flood kicked off his 2024 campaign for Nebraska’s
First Congressional District with a rally in Lincoln on Saturday morning.
“I’m proud of what my team and I have accomplished on behalf of Nebraskans, but there is still a lot
of work to be done,” Flood stated. “I’m running for re-election to continue my work to lower costs for
Nebraskans, limit the scope of the federal government, and secure our southern border.”
During his speech, Flood highlighted the importance of legislation he has co-sponsored to reduce
housing prices in Nebraska.
“It’s hard to convince that new college graduate that Lincoln, Nebraska, is where they need to stay –
that Columbus, Nebraska, is where they need to stay – when there’s no hope for them buying [a
home] anytime soon,” Flood stated in his speech.
Flood also stressed the urgency of solving the border crisis and called on Democrats to take action
immediately to secure the border.
“Ultimately, I’m willing to vote for legislation that will stop what’s happening at the border today,” Flood
said. “This is not a November issue for me. This is a today issue.”
Flood was introduced by Former Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman, who applauded Congressman
Flood for his work in Congress.
“He cares about all of us. He cares about us,” Heineman stated. “He listens to our concerns and he
delivers results for the first district.”
