Scarlet Tops Cream on Wednesday

In Nebraska softball’s second fall scrimmage on Wednesday evening, Scarlet defeated Cream by a score of 15-1 at Bowlin Stadium.
Jordy Bahl was credited with the win for Scarlet, as she pitched 4.0 innings with only one hit and one earned run. Bahl also notched a home run and three RBIs. Hannah Camenzind came in to pitch the last 3.0 innings for Scarlet and did not allow a run.
Ava Kuszak had a home run and four RBIs to power Scarlet, while Olivia DiNardo and Lauren Camenzind each posted three hits. Bella Bacon also drove in three runs.
Nessa McMillen and Emmerson Cope registered a hit apiece for Cream.
Scarlet opened up the scoring in the bottom of the third, as a Bahl home run brought in Kuszak and Natalia Hill. Hannah Camenzind scored the fourth run of the inning with an RBI double before Hannah scored on an RBI single from her twin sister Lauren to make the score 5-0.
Cream scored in the top of the fourth, when a Samantha Bland RBI ground out scored Dakota Carter.
Scarlet answered in the bottom of the frame when Bacon scored on a sacrifice fly from Kuszak.
Scarlet then enjoyed a seven-run inning in the bottom of the fifth to take a 13-1 lead. Bacon got the scoring started with a two-run double that brought in Carter and Lauren Camenzind. A Cream error scored Bacon before Abbie Squier scored McKinley Malecha with an RBI single. Kuszak capped the inning with a three-run homer to make the score 13-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Hannah Camenzind scored Talia Tokheim home with an RBI single before Bacon posted another RBI ground out to send Camenzind to the plate and close out the 15-1 Scarlet victory.
The Huskers will host another scrimmage on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium.
